The 2019 Retail Global charity gala raised $98,589 for Retail Orphan Initiative, with Speedmaster participating alongside e-commerce partners from across Australia and the United States.
Every dollar went directly to the cause. Catch Group's Gabby Leibovich covered all event costs, ensuring the full amount reached Retail Orphan Initiative without deduction.
Where the Funds Go
The money raised will fund the reopening of a hospital building in Haiti. Once renovated, the facility will service approximately 10,000 people, providing medical support to a community where access to healthcare remains critically limited.
Additional contributions came from across the retail sector: Nutricare founder James Dutton donated $100,000 worth of Patch Strips, and Shoes & Sox contributed 30,000 pairs of shoes for children in Haiti.
Building on Prior Work
In 2018, Retail Global and Retail Orphan Initiative opened a school in Haiti, equipping it with computer labs that gave more than 1,000 students access to education resources. That year's charity event raised $152,085.
Part of the ongoing effort includes offline education technology. CADP has assembled tablets loaded with open-source learning materials - Khan Academy Lite, Wikipedia for Schools, Medline Plus, and other packages - all accessible without internet connectivity. In regions where reliable internet access does not exist, these tools provide a practical bridge to educational content.
