99.99966% of Six Sigma: Continuous Improvement

Many of the most successful businesses across the globe have incorporated elements of Six Sigma into their operations and Speedmaster is no stranger to its principles.

“I remember years ago looking to hire operations manager and warehouse managers and one thing stood out. They would always talk about six sigma and 5’s certification and applying it to successful organisations. I was intrigued and impressed that I ended up personally learning the ways and become 5s certified and a Black Belt in Six Sigma.Fast forward 5 years and we now aim for all staff to understand the principles and most importantly use them.” - Speedmaster's CEO Jason Kencevski.

Technically speaking as per wikipedia “Six Sigma (6σ)” is a set of techniques and tools for process improvement which was introduced by American engineer Bill Smith while working at Motorola in 1986.

Six Sigma strategies seek to improve manufacturing quality by identifying and removing the causes of defects and minimising variability in manufacturing and business processes.

Six Sigma projects follow a defined methodology and have specific value targets, such as reducing pollution or increasing customer satisfaction.

“After leaning 5s lean and Six Sigma, I won’t lie we find any excuse to apply our learning. Even better, once you see it in theory and apply in reality it is the gift that keeps giving.” Speedmaster's COO Melissa Parra.

Companies like the eCommerce giant Amazon comfortably sits atop all other online retailers, a status due in part to its widespread application of Six Sigma to all processes.

Amazon is such a shining example of Six Sigma, in fact, that the company would certainly serve well as an inspiration for your any business.

“Remember to apply the simple rules when it comes 6 Sigma, stick to the basics, keep it lean, build it off kaizen and last of all enjoy the process. Some of the biggest “Aha!” moments as Stephen Covey would put it come during this process.” - Speedmaster's CEO Jason Kencevski.
