Project Blackbird is underway. This build thread follows the construction of a custom Daytona Coupe - a vehicle that carries some of the most recognizable lines in racing history - assembled with Speedmaster components at the core.

Starting Point

Every build begins with a foundation. In Part One, the project moves from concept to physical progress. The images below capture the early stages: chassis work, initial component fitment, and the first visible signs of what this car will become. At this point, the build is still raw - bare metal, exposed structure, and the kind of detail work that defines whether the finished product will be ordinary or precise.

The Details

What separates a build thread from a photo album is context. Each image here represents a decision - material choice, component placement, structural alignment. The Daytona Coupe silhouette demands that every panel gap, every mounting point, and every structural member hit its mark. There is no room for approximation on a car like this.

What Comes Next

Part One is the beginning. The build will continue through subsequent installments as the drivetrain, body, and interior come together. Follow the full progress on The Hangar for real-time updates between posts.
