John Zappia added another trophy to his record at the 2011 Nitro Champs, taking the Top Doorslammer title with the Procomp Electronics-backed Fuchs Monaro. The car ran consistently through eliminations and delivered when it mattered in the final round.
The Fuchs Monaro in Top Form
Zappia's Monaro is one of the most recognized cars in Australian drag racing. Running under the Fuchs and Procomp Electronics banners, the car represents years of refinement across the engine, chassis, and electronics packages. At the 2011 Nitro Champs, that refinement was on full display. The car responded to every tune-up change and ran its numbers when it counted.
Consistency Through Eliminations
Winning an event like the Nitro Champs requires more than one strong pass. The elimination format demands consistency across multiple rounds, each against a different competitor with different strategies. Zappia's team managed the car through changing track conditions and competitive pressure, delivering performance on every run through to the final.
Procomp Electronics Under Pressure
The electronics and engine management systems in Zappia's car operate at the limits of what the technology can handle. Every pass generates data that the team uses to refine calibrations for the next round. For Speedmaster and the Procomp Electronics division, a win at this level is a direct reflection of product capability under the most demanding conditions available.
Zappia's 2011 Nitro Champs victory reinforced the performance and reliability of the Speedmaster-backed program at the highest level of Australian drag racing.
