Built for the Strip

Super Gas is one of the most competitive bracket racing classes in drag racing. The rules mandate a fixed elapsed time - typically 9.90 seconds - which means every run is about consistency, not outright speed. The car must be fast enough to run the number but controlled enough to do it repeatedly. That demands precision from the engine, the drivetrain, and the driver in equal measure.

The Speedmaster-Equipped Build

Sydney Speed Supplies built this Super Gas drag car around Speedmaster performance components. In a class where consistency defines success, component reliability is not a preference - it is a requirement. The engine must deliver repeatable power output run after run, in varying temperature and atmospheric conditions, without drift or degradation over a full day of competition.

The Speedmaster components in this build - from the rotating assembly to the intake and ignition systems - were selected specifically for the demands of bracket racing. Every part must perform the same way on the tenth pass as it did on the first. That level of consistency starts with how the components are engineered and manufactured.

What Super Gas Demands

Unlike heads-up racing where the quickest car wins, Super Gas rewards the team that can repeat a precise elapsed time most consistently. The car must leave the line the same way every pass, accelerate through the gears at the same rate, and cross the finish line within hundredths of a second of the target. The engine's role in that equation is to deliver identical power and torque curves every time the throttle opens.

This build from Sydney Speed Supplies demonstrates that Speedmaster components perform at the level required for competitive drag racing - not just making power, but making the same power, every time, when it counts.
