The SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas was one of the marquee events on the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series calendar. Speedmaster, through its Procomp Electronics division, had a presence at the event as part of its ongoing involvement in Top Fuel competition.

Las Vegas and the NHRA

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has long been one of the premier venues on the NHRA circuit. The facility's layout, climate, and track surface make it one of the fastest stops on the tour. For Top Fuel teams, Las Vegas represents an opportunity to push performance numbers in favorable conditions, and the competition reflects that.

Top Fuel Competition

Top Fuel dragsters are the fastest accelerating vehicles on earth, covering the quarter mile in under four seconds at speeds exceeding 330 mph. Every component in these machines operates at its absolute limit. Engine management, ignition timing, fuel delivery, and data acquisition systems must perform flawlessly across a run that generates forces measured in multiple Gs.

Procomp Electronics at the National Level

Speedmaster's involvement in NHRA Top Fuel racing through the Procomp Electronics brand is a direct extension of the company's engineering philosophy. The data collected from national-level competition informs product development across the entire Speedmaster range. What survives and performs at 10,000 RPM and 10,000 horsepower establishes the baseline for components designed for every level of performance.

The 2010 SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals was one of several events that season where Speedmaster's presence in professional drag racing continued to build.
