72 Hours Straight: Inside Speedmaster's Amazon Prime Day Distribution Push

The Los Angeles distribution centre ran around the clock to meet Prime Day demand - and the team made it count

Amazon's second Prime Day pushed Speedmaster's Los Angeles distribution centre into a 72-hour continuous operation. The facility stayed open around the clock for three days to meet order volume across the sale period.

The Operation

Speedmaster's LA facility spans 75,000 square feet and is built to move thousands of orders at pace. Prime Day - Amazon's annual sales event for Prime subscribers during the North American summer - tested that capacity at sustained volume.

"We've got a 75,000-square-foot facility with state-of-the-art technology that gets thousands of orders out at a time, but we still do require manpower." - Jason Kencevski, Speedmaster CEO

Keeping the Team Sharp

Extended hours demand more than logistics. The team operated on a structured schedule with additional breaks, meals, and activities - including water balloon fights that have become a Prime Day tradition at the facility.

"It's fun times actually, they really enjoy it. It breaks up a long day for the guys and builds a great team environment." - Jason Kencevski, Speedmaster CEO

The approach reflects how Speedmaster operates at scale: infrastructure handles the volume, but the people make it work. Investing in the team during high-demand periods is not a perk - it is part of the operating model.
