2018 in Review: What Speedmaster Built

Four SEMA awards, the Blackbetty launch, Gen III recognition, and sustained retail growth

What 2018 Produced

Speedmaster's 2018 was defined by measurable output across product, recognition, partnerships, and retail growth. Here is what the year delivered.

Four SEMA Global Media Awards

At the 2018 SEMA Show, Speedmaster won four Global Media Awards - bringing the total to 13 across nine consecutive years. No other company in the automotive aftermarket has achieved that consistency.

The Blackbetty Launch

The Speedmaster Blackbetty - a tribute to the 1933 Ford Roadster - was launched at SEMA as the second of five planned DNA signature car builds. The first edition sold to a private owner in Los Angeles, with additional orders following.

Gen III Innovator Finalist

Speedmaster CEO Jason Kencevski was named a finalist for SEMA's Gen III Innovator of the Year Award - one of the highest individual recognitions in automotive technology, with only three nominees selected globally.

Partnership Programme

Speedmaster Partnerships continued to expand in 2018. The programme - where racers, builders, and innovators are selected by senior management for sponsorship and industry alliances - saw continued results, including the ongoing collaboration with Kamikaze Chris and his El Camino build.

Online Retail Growth

The online retail division set new records across both the company retail site and affiliate marketplaces. The year closed with the second annual doorbuster sale, which ranked among Google's top-searched Black Friday sales in the automotive industry.

"I am in awe of what Speedmaster has been able to accomplish in twelve months," said CEO Jason Kencevski. "We owe it to the support our customers and fans show us every day."
