Two Awards at SEMA 2016

Two vehicles built with Speedmaster components earned recognition at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The 1958 Plymouth Belvedere was selected for the Mopar Muscle Top 10 Mopars, and the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was named to Car and Driver's Top 10 Cars on Day 1 of the show.

Both builds were completed through The Custom Shop, with Speedmaster supplying the performance components across engine, drivetrain, and ancillary systems.

1958 Plymouth Belvedere

Located in the outdoor pavilion, the Belvedere was a SEMA feature vehicle. Under the raised hood sits a 6.1L Hemi from a 2008 SRT8 Charger, producing over 700 hp and feeding a built NAG1 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission through to a narrowed 9-inch rear end. Builder John Wargo used a Hotwire engine management system and wiring harness. The custom front bumper integrates an intercooler inlet and molded driving lights.

1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

The Trans Am was displayed at the Valspar Paint booth, finished in Prospray paint. The deep-red exterior complements a chestnut-toned interior, and the car rides on low-profile tyres with modern American Racing basket-weave wheels.

Upcoming Appearances

Both vehicles will appear at the Muscle Car Nationals, World of Wheels in Chicago, Hot Rod Power Tour, Slamology in Indianapolis, Street Machine Nationals, and Hot Rod Super Nationals in the months following SEMA.
